MultiGigabit changes more than the speed of the network

At multigigabit speeds, the Ethernet frame remains unchanged. The engineering workflow changes around it: physical access, connectors, active-tap visibility, logging capacity, time synchronization and protected-link proof.

Predefined Test Cases
Connect the multigigabit ECU
Establish a direct point-to-point conversion between Automotive ECUs using the 2.5/5/10GBASE-T1 multigigabit standard and a SFP+ module compatible with multigigabit ethernet interfaces
Protocol Expertise
Observe the live link
Place an active tap in one point-to-point link to forward live traffic between the endpoints while creating a captured copy for logging and analysis, ensuring HW timestamping without causing interference on the in-vehicle-network (IVN)
Automated Execution
Retain start-up traffic
Start capturing data the moment your system powers up, thanks to built-in buffers and optimized startup logic.
OEM Adaptations
Manage capture
output
Avoid data bursts and logger overload. Our modules balance output traffic, ensuring consistent and loss-free logging — even without an external data logger.
Component and System Testing
Trust the nanoseconds-resolution timestamping
Synchronize data across multiple bus systems with hardware timestamping down to nanoseconds. Perfect for root cause analysis and seamless traceability.
Standardized Reporting
Scaling automotive ethernet without adding complexity
SFP/SFP+ modules lineup covers different speed rates ranging from 100Mbps/1Gbps to 10Gbps ensuring reliable, modular connectivity solution that delivers consistent performance

Active Visibility

Capture Module multigigabit

An active tap for one point-to-point 2.5/5/10GBASE-T1 connection. It forwards live traffic between both endpoints, creates a captured copy, applies a hardware timestamp and sends logging output to a logger or PC.

  • Hardware timestamping with nanosecond resolution

  • TECMP and ASAM CMP encapsulation

  • gPTP/802.1AS-2011 AVnu profile or PTPv2 subset

  • Start-up buffer, packetisation and output traffic shaping

  • Basic and advanced filtering

  • Traffic injection and cascading

Observe the difference frame by frame in the upcoming free webinar

The demonstration in the webinar sends one user-defined payload through an regular path and a protected path. The payload is readable on the open path. On the protected path, MKA negotiation frames are visible and the equivalent traffic is MACsec-protected

The unprotected path passes through the MediaConverter multigigabit

The protected path uses the supporting Enhanced Ethernet Switch and two SFP+ modules

The Capture Module multigigabit logs the protected link

The two traffic states are compared in separate Wireshark views
