100BASE-T1 MediaConverter SFP Module

The 100BASE-T1 SFP Module from Technica Engineering is the optimal solution to convert between 100BASE-T1 and SGMII. It fits into a standard Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) slot and generates 100 Mbit/s full-duplex, 100BASE-T1 automotive Ethernet (a.k.a. BroadR-Reach ™).

An ideal candidate to interact with automotive Ethernet in test houses. When plugged into approved devices, Hardware-in-loop (HIL) systems and test benches with compatible chassis, the device must be configured to automotive 100BASE-T1 after power-up. The product features a DIP switch under the module for adjustment of Master/Slave mode of operation for automotive Ethernet 100BASE-T1.

By using the Broadcom BCM54811S transceiver, Technica Engineering ensures a trustworthy and effective tool to the customers that are looking for a cost-efficient, quick and manageable solution for their testing requirements, with minimum latency and maximum reliability. Registers of the integrated transceiver are accessible via I²C interface for diagnosis and reconfiguration.

The device sets up the connection between Standard and Automotive Ethernet. It is equipped with a Molex connector which makes its design portable and easy to install in test racks and HiL Systems. The metal housing makes it robust with IP20 protection. The device is capable to function in a variating temperature range from 0 Celsius to +70 Celsius. With the in-built status LED, the operation of the device is transparent and aids the tester to detect link-up and data transmission in a visual manner.

The device can be used with our MediaGateway with necessary configurations. However, the SFP Modules do not work in a “plug-and-play” manner with any SFP-capable system. In order to set-up the SFP Modules to work in your system, you must be able to interact via I²C and contact Broadcom (the PHY manufacturer) to receive the NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) protected PHY-register setting datasheet to initialize the phy properly. In this regard, Technica cannot support, due to NDA restrictions.
