1000BASE-T1 MediaConverter EMC

The 1000BASE-T1 MediaConverter EMC establishes one direct point-to-point conversion between automotive ECUs using 1000BASE-T1 (1000 Mbit/s, Fullduplex, with 1x Shielded or Unshielded Twisted Pair cable) and any Standard Gigabit Ethernet (1 Gbit/s, 1000BASE-T) device with an RJ-45 connector. In the conversion, no packets are stored or modified. The conversion takes place on a Physical Layer with the highest proven reliability.

By using the Marvell 88Q2112 A2 PHY, we ensure a trustworthy and effective tool to our customers that are looking for a cost-efficient, quick, and manageable solution for their testing requirements, with no latency and no packet loss. Via DIP Switch, the Marvell 88Q2112 A2 Phy can be used in “IEEE” or in “Legacy” mode (For a technical description, please check the User Manual).

The device features bi-directional conversion between Standard Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T) and Automotive Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T1). A massive stainless-steel housing, coupled with DIP switches for ease of configuration enables the user to interact with the converter, effortlessly.

Our 1000BASE-T1 EMC MediaConverter can work both in 1000BASE-T1 mode, as well as in 100BASE-T1 mode when used with our MediaGateway outside the chamber (optical SFP on the MG)). The use case with the MediaGateway can be seen in the photo “Use Case 1400-2 A” above.

No customized driver is needed to interact with our 1000BASE-T1 MediaConverter. The device communicates with standard Ethernet through an SFP (small form-factor pluggable) interface. It comes with an automotive grade MQS connector (Power),  an automotive approved MATEnet connector for 1000BASE-T1, and a standard SFP (small form-factor pluggable) slot. Its design makes it portable and easy to install in test racks and the included optical SFPs with LC/LC optical fiber makes its use inside EMC chambers possible. The stainless-steel housing makes it robust with IP20 protection and improves the EMC performance. The device is capable to function in a variating temperature range from -40 Celsius to +80 Celsius. With the in-built status LEDs, the operation of the device is transparent and aids the tester to detect Link up and data transmission visually.

The additional optical interface with ST/ST connectors provides additional insight to phy-internal information via the included USB adapter board.

No extra hardware or software is needed to connect the device with a PC or a Laptop. The device can be coupled with any hardware or software tool that runs on standard gigabit Ethernet with an RJ-45 connector. Thus, the 1000BASE-T1 MediaConverter is the ideal solution for working quickly and efficiently with the new 1000BASE-T1 technology without the hustle of extra- wiring, customized connectors, and vendor-specific tools.
